Deputy Chris Johnson Honored with Nebraska Optimists' Officer of the Year Award

The family of Deputy Christopher Johnson stands with the Officer of the Year award that was presented in Johnson's honor by the Nebraska Optimists during their regional meeting recently in Wayne. Johnson's mother, Lorraine, is holding the award while surrounded by family members, Platte County Sheriff Jon Zavodil (far left) Optimists state goveror Russ Zeeb (next to Zavodil) and chaplain Mark Wetzler (far right). Johnson, a Wayne native, was killed in an accident on Aug. 29, 2009, while on his way to the scene of another accident.
