From the President

Welcome to the Nebraska Sheriffs' Association, the oldest association of its kind in the state. The upcoming year of 2010 appears to be an especially busy year for Nebraska's Sheriffs and the Association.

First and foremost, each and every sheriff in our state has to answer this one question: Am I going to file for re-election? The answer to this will vary for each Sheriff, and there will be changes as well as retirements, different career paths taken, and (historically) some Sheriffs defeated in their re-election campaigns. Good luck to all who decide to seek re-election.

Second, I encourage all Sheriffs to join and be an active participant of the Nebraska Sheriffs' Association. I also encourage all of your deputies, office and correctional personnel, to join as well. Let's try to increase the membership and make the Association a much stronger force that we can all be proud of.

Third, with all the changes ahead (State Fair relocation, loss of the NSA building, legislative issues, etc.) let's try to have better representation at all the monthly meetings, as well as the continued strong guidance from the committees, in order to make the Association the best possible, and to ensure that it's headed in the right direction.

Finally, I want to thank ALL who support the Nebraska Sheriffs' Association throughout the year. Thank you!

God bless and STAY SAFE,
Larry D. Koranda, 2010 NSA President
