Why I Will Not Do Drugs
Stormy Hoover

I remember coming home after school during my 4th and 5th grades, and having to watch my little sister Piper. That was an everyday routine for two years; I always watched Piper until my mom's ex-fiance, Jeff, came home. My mom worked either 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and when she got home she ate, smoked a couple of cigarettes, took a bath, and then went to bed. Piper and I hardly ever saw her, and I felt like I was the mother of the family instead of being a child.

During the weekends we hardly saw her either; she was either at the bars drinking or trying to find new guys to bring home, even though she was engaged. I just thought that all she did was drink, smoke, and bring guys home, but then I learned that she also did drugs. Actually I learned that she also did drugs. Actually, I learned that the whole Polfus family did drugs. I believe that they still do and it disgusts me. That is why I want my last name legally changed to Hoover so I will not have a bad reputation all because of my mom's family.

When you look at my mom, you see a woman with bad teeth (some of them are even blue), small, black eyes that look like they are dead and just stare off into space, and below them, wrinkles that make her look older than she really is. She is also really skinny and very pale. I don't know if this is because of the drugs, but either way, she isn't very pretty.

I wouldn't want to do drugs because - well, my mother is a perfect example. She has had four kids, each with a different father, and her last daughter, Summer, doesn't know who her father is. Summer was adopted by my dad's cousin because my mom wouldn't be able to take care of her.

My mom is always broke and is asking people for money all the time. I can even recall her asking me, HER OWN 14-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, for money. Most likely, she is broke from buying drugs, cigarettes, and alcohol at the bar. I have never felt bad for my mom because it is her fault for picking the wrong road to follow and not realizing what she is doing is illegal. Because of what my mother chose to do, she can't even get a job; if she does, she quits because she doesn't like someone she works with, or all of a sudden, something is wrong with her so she can't work. My mother brings pity to herself and even more to her family.

My mom is always getting into fights just to start something and get attention. I think she does this because she is scared and wants people to think she is tougher than she really is. All these are examples of why I will never do drugs and would never think to do drugs.

There is also one more person I know who did drugs, paid the price, but recovered. The person I'm talking about is my stepdad, Rick. He was addicted to drugs and his friends put a meth lab in his garage. He got busted because it was on his property and because they found out he was on drugs. He went to jail for two years. He is doing Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and has to do a VA once a month. He always goes to those things and never skips out. Even though he is a recovering addict, I am very proud of him for realizing he was wrong and is trying his hardest to change. Even thought my dad has changed, it doesn't mean what he did was right; but he's tried and succeeded, and that's all that matters.

This might not change anyone's mind about drugs, but I hope it does becuase doing drugs is illegal and can ruin your life forever. If you don't believe these two stories, you look up "true drug stories" on the Internet and see how many resources come up. Drugs can kill, not just death like lying in a coffin for the rest of eternity, but it also kills your personality, your body, friendships, and even your family. If you want to be well like, get a good job, and be successful, never do drugs. Trust me, it messes up a lot of stuff and you can't fix 80% of what has happened because you are addicted and don't want to stop.

I don't feel sorry for people whose lives are messed up because of drugs, It was their decison. They should have known better.

True stories.
